The office of the German Research Ombudsman has become a member of ENRIO – the European Network of Research Integrity Offices in 2010. Every year, ENRIO is organizing two network meetings for the member offices in different European cities.

The idea to found a European network came up in 2007 during the World Conference on Research Integrity (WCRI). The first meeting of several members of European research integrity offices and members of national research integrity committees (including Prof. Dr. Ulrike Beisiegel, then chair of the committee German Research Ombudsman) took place in 2008. This happened to be the founding assembly of the network which since has continuously grown and gained more members all over Europe. The former head of office of the German Research Ombudsman, Helga Nolte, joined the network in 2010.

From 2019 to 2022, the head of office of the German Research Ombudsman, Hjördis Czesnick, acted as Vice Chair in the ENRIO Board, next to Sanna Kaisa Spoof, head of the Finnish National Board on Research Integrity (TENK) and Maura Hiney from the Health Research Board, Irland.

Here, you can find a list of all current member states. Based on a survey among all member offices, ENRIO has also developed Country Reports which explain the countries’ research integrity structures in detail.
